I am delighted to announce the launch of ‘As In Judy’ – my new poetry collection with Flapjack Press. It’s my first solo poetry publication since ‘Everything Must Go’ (Holland Park Press 2012). I’m really excited.

I wish to express heartfelt gratitude to Char March for her generous editorial input, without which this collection would be far weaker.

And to Ruth Fainlight, for her inspiring suggestion that ‘As In Judy’ would make a great title.

Manchester Histories Festival returns across Greater Manchester for a long-weekender from 7-11 June 2018 with the theme protest, democracy, and freedom of speech. For Manchester Histories Festival 2018 and in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University, we're presenting ‘Soapbox’ from 8th-10th June where we will create a Speakers Corner at All Saint’s Park off Oxford Road. The park will be transformed artists from the region, with a hustings, new visual identity, and food and drink stalls.
On Friday 8th June at c.5.30pm, Rosie Garland will be performing her spoken word piece about the Suffragette direct action in Manchester Art Gallery, which took place in April 1913.

It's here! We've been running That's What She Said in London for over a year and now it's finally coming North for a very special Halloween launch event.

That's What She Said is a night of storytelling, spoken word and performance written and performed by women. We welcome a wide range of speakers, showcasing everything from slam poetry, true tales and fiction to contemporary political thought and comedy. Our mission is to champion and celebrate writing by women, and to provide a platform to the writers and performers we love.

Verbose is a monthly spoken word night, showcasing the best poetry and prose the Rainy City (and beyond) has to offer. Each month sees special performances by featured guests from various writing collectives and independent publishers, along with an open mic, when anyone can get up and read their work – see the Open Mic tab. The event takes place on the fourth Monday of the month, at Fallow cafe in Fallowfield, Manchester. It's free entry and doors are at 7.30pm, with things kicking off at around 8pm and finishing around 10pm. Fallow is a fully licensed bar and sells some scrummy scran until 9pm.
