Many thanks to Cat Lumb for her blog review of The Palace of Curiosities paperback launch at the Manchester Museum for Manchester Literature Festival!

Excerpt here:

"When I asked her what had kept her going when it didn't seem like her book was ever going to be published she answered with a plain and direct: 'Bloody-mindedness'.

She spoke about how she couldn't stop writing even if no one ever got to see her work – something I have to say, I agree with. She was fortunate to have very supportive friends and the dedication inside the opening page reflects this: To everyone who believed I could get here, even when I didn't. This, I have to admit, is one of the more touching dedications I have seen in a long while."

Headlines' interview

Really delighted to have a full-page interview in the autumn edition of 'Headlines' – the magazine of the Christie Hospital trust.

I talk about how the experience of throat cancer changed my life – and how I have fought to get my voice back. Both creatively and literally...

'Twisted Sister'

Where I recall my seven-year ordeal at the hands of a female stalker.

It took a long, long time - but I got my life back. With the help of friends, family and Greater Manchester Police.

If anything I say in this article helps support someone who is going through an experience like this, then it's worth it.

18.8.2013 - Isle of Arran Poetry Adventure

Just returned from a week on the Isle of Arran, Scotland...

A week spent in the company of wonderful writers such as Gerry Potter, Mel Rees, Stevie Turner, John G Hall, Sarah Miller, Chanje Kunda, Steve Waling, Steph Pike, Anna Percy, Leanne Bridgewater, Charlotte Henson - and so many more I can't list them here!

Peaceful mornings spent sitting at my window in Lamlash, overlooking Holy Isle. I did my morning pages with a pot of coffee, watching the seals swim in to take up position on the rocks.

A wonderful time was had by all the fundraising evening for the Young Oncology Unit at the Christie Hospital... I was honoured to be invited to be one of the speakers - in the company of inspiring (and entertaining) women like Val McDermid and Susan Calman. Not to mention the inspiring women on the committee who put so much passion into raising funds for this wonderful cause...

Honoured to be a part of it!
