When the darkness knocks...
First Draft's Halloween event at Chetham's Library

It's Halloween, and there is a darkness calling from a building that has witnessed the shadows of history flood the city. Chetham's Library has soaked itself in secrets and stories and now First Draft coming to let the building speak. Our incredible line-up of performers will be sharing new music, stories, poetry and drama to tell the tales that the building cannot speak itself.
Our performers will explore the creepy, strange and dark in this thick-walled, medieval building. Can a place ever shake it's past? And if that past is as a priests residence, a prison, a gunpowder factory, a stately home and a school — what happens when all those histories wake up at once?

First Draft is a bi-monthly Manchester-based cabaret night, showcasing brand new work: drama, fiction, poetry, music, comedy, storytelling, spoken word, and more. We aim to provide a space for writers and performers of all kinds to test out new ideas in front of a supportive audience.

Celebrate the publication of great weather for MEDIA's latest anthology, "The Careless Embrace of the Boneshaker" – a fearless and dynamic collection of poetry and short fiction. Based in New York City, great weather for MEDIA showcases both American and international writers. The anthology also contains an interview with musician THURSTON MOORE.

Submissions open for the 2017 anthology in October. This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about an international indie press looking for new voices.

FLIM NITE - The Silence of the Lambs

 What would 'Silence of the Lambs' look like distorted by poets, comedians, and musicians?

FLIM NITE is a monthly performance event based at Three Minute Theatre in Manchester's Northern Quarter. At no point do we show the film in question!

Each of our performers has been given a chunk of 'Silence of the Lambs' to turn into something new. Come and watch as our acts transform a creepy-murdery psychological horror into something unrecognisable for your viewing pleasure.

We will not be showing a movie. We will be making a flim.
